The PR Team worked with FoodCloud, a social enterprise that rescues surplus food from all stages of the food supply chain and redistributes to charities and communities in need. In acknowledgement of the UN FAO* World Food Day on the 16 Oct 2019, FoodCloud, in partnership with high profile food industry and charity partners, launched a series of case study videos to raise awareness and inspire action around food waste in Ireland.
The initiative called on all Irish manufacturers, suppliers, and farmers to join the growing number of partners in donating their surplus food to charities all over Ireland. Featured companies included Tesco, Lidl and Aldi; plus food producers Nestlé Ireland, Arrabawn Dairies, Hilton Foods and the Meade Potato Company.
The films highlighted the impact companies have made on the local community by collaborating with FoodCloud and how rewarding the process of food redistribution can be. The films were shared on Youtube, FoodCloud’s website, and across partners’ social channels.
We secured coverage across national and regional media and trade media for the activation and organised interviews with representatives from Hilton Foods and the Meade Potato Company to speak about their involvement with FoodCloud. Coverage included The Irish Times online, The Daily Mirror, The Dublin Gazette, Shelf Life, and Business & Finance online.
